Our Unique Approach to Teacher Training

At the end of each training we’ve done, the reflection has always been: the yoga practices themselves are so valuable and important, but it’s how you apply them to relationships and everyday life that really create the powerful, long-lasting effects. We believe strongly in “humble radiance” – remembering that we are all sharing the same space and figuring it out, whether we are a student or a teacher.

The program is designed to help you build and maintain supportive habits and practices that both serve your personal practice and the practice of the students you teach. Our mission - through our studio and our trainings - is to build an empowered community through the shared practice of yoga.

Our cores values in leading foundational teacher trainings are:
  • building relationships
  • connecting you with your authentic mission & vision
  • empowering you to apply your practice both on and off the mat
  • living a life of service, to self and others, that acknowledges the value of community and our shared (and very precious) human experience

A unique and exciting aspect of our teacher training is our mentorship program. You will have access to a mentor, who will serve as your resource for more personalized attention and guidance. This relationship is extremely beneficial for taking this body of knowledge and figuring out how it applies to your own unique offerings.

This training is suited for anyone who wants to deepen their own yoga practice and/or teach yoga. You will be given homework that will help you practice and apply the teachings and you will be expected to complete your non-contact hour requirements to receive your certification. By the end of the training, you will not only learn how to teach a well-rounded and intelligent alignment-based vinyasa class; you will deepen your studentship and learn what makes you irreplaceable as a teacher so that you can share your gifts authentically with the world.

Julie Serow

YTT Coordinator + Co-Facilitator

Julie began practicing yoga consistently in 2010 to enhance her career as a professional dancer but quickly discovered that the practice led her to a realm of truth-seeking and self-inquiry that drew her to dive deep into the ancient practice. She completed her 200 hour teacher training in 2014 at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in Manhattan. Julie has also studied and completed trainings in Ayurveda, Hands-On Assists, Restorative Yoga and Inversions. In 2018, Julie moved from New York City to Vermont seeking a different quality of life and that's when she found Sangha! She began teaching at Sangha in August, 2018 and became involved with teacher training in 2019. She is a firm believer that yoga is a transformative, lifelong practice that fosters love and kindness and is humbled to have the opportunity to share this powerful practice with others.

What Students Are Saying

You were able to adapt an in-person training well. Julie and Caitlin create a culture of kindess and support even through a screen! There was a wide range of skilled presenters that made for a well-rounded training. Kaleigh's breakdown of anatomy was invaluable. I loved Kishor's discussion on the Bhagavad-Gita. Julie is incredible at theming and cueing. Caitlin is highly skilled at breaking down poses to make them accessible based on a person's individual challenges and body.

- Kaysha Coccia, YTT graduate 2020
About two years ago I fell in love with yoga, but didn’t imagine myself as a yoga teacher. After moving to Boston and practicing at various studios I really missed Sangha. When I saw they were running a YTT program online, I jumped at the opportunity to learn from Sangha. I’m so glad I did! Caitlin and Julie are not only genuine people, but their passion and dedication to strengthening the yoga community is beyond inspiring. I love the idea that world would be a better place if everyone was a yoga teacher, and I can’t wait to keep practicing with all the wonderful humans I suddenly feel so close with. Recommend 10/10 no question!

Representation & Inclusivity Scholarship
Sangha Studio is dedicated to making yoga more accessible to all individuals and communities. This scholarship seeks to increase representation by removing financial barriers and expanding access to those who are underrepresented in the yoga community and underserved by its teachings. Priority goes to people who are part of the following communities: BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, larger bodies, and those who are not able-bodied.

Scholarship requirements:
  • Be committed to teaching yoga after completion of training
  • Have a consistent yoga practice. This can be at Sangha Studio or elsewhere. The intention is to show a commitment to a yoga practice.
  • Schedule a meeting with Sangha Studio YTT staff after submission of scholarship application (how to do this is listed on the bottom of the application)
  • All scholarship applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for a VSAC Advancement Grant if you are a Vermont resident.

Each teacher training program session has allocated scholarship funds. The amount of each scholarship will be determined on an individual basis. Awards will be determined 1-month before the start of each program. All applicants will be informed at this time.
