Dear Sangha family,
We believe what has been, and always will be, the most important thing is that we come together as a community - and many of us need that now more than ever. At Sangha, we do this through yoga. Over the last couple of weeks, our community has shown up to practice with us online, donated to help support us, and sent us many, many messages with kind and encouraging words. We are so inspired by the resilience of our sangha.
These are uncertain times for all of us, and we want our community to know that we are committed to figuring out how to manage our finances while also serving our mission and our community in the way that it needs us to be right now. Our mission is still to offer financially accessible yoga, which at this time looks like online classes and virtual Community Yoga Programs.
As of the date of this letter, we are still paying rent at our three locations, payroll for our administrative and management team, Community Yoga Programs that we have been able to move online, and teachers who are leading online sessions. With that, we recognize that our community at large has had their lives turned upside down financially as well. Until our barn doors are able to slide open for you once again, we are adding the varied membership pricing options below. Our membership has always been the "bread and butter" to our financial model, and we are hoping that these varied options allow everyone to practice while also supporting our financial commitments. How can you help us the most right now? By being a member, at any level you are able, is the most helpful way!
(For full transparency regarding our finances: some teachers have asked not to be paid. Additionally, we want to give public thanks to MindBodyOnline for offering a relief program that has waived two months of their software, a savings of close to $1000).
New Membership Options
[all monthly memberships. new options valid through June 2020]
$0 Membership | for those of you who are unable to donate due to loss of income
$15 Membership | a lower priced option for those who need it at this time
$30 Membership | a lower priced option for those who need it at this time
$60 Sustaining Membership | this baby isn't going anywhere! We've always called this a Sustaining Membership, because that's truly what it is, now more than ever! We will maintain this membership when we open our spaces again.
$75 Membership | a "pay-it-forward" membership that will contribute to our overall expenses at this time
$90 Membership | a "pay-it-forward" membership that will contribute to our overall expenses at this time
$720 Year Long Sustaining Membership | an option to pay up front for the entire year to help with cashflow during our closure
If you are a current Sustaining Member and would like to adjust your rate in either direction or if at any point after you purchase a membership you'd like to make a change during our studio closure, simply call or email us at 802-448-4262 or email@example.com. Because things are constantly shifting and changing at this time, we will be testing out these new membership options for the month of April, at which time we will re-evaluate if needed.
Why these big changes when we could just let there be pricing options from $0-20 online? Believe us, we've tried. Due to the functionality of MindBodyOnline, our drop-in classes are not able to have a $0 option available for purchase online that won't trigger numerous other parts of the application to work incorrectly. We feel strongly that having a wide variety of pricing options, including a $0 option, is critical to our mission and the roots of the studio. We encourage anyone who would benefit by attending class at the $0 level to use the $0 Membership option. To get this set up on your MindBody account, please fill out this form, and we will get back to you ASAP. Drop-in class donations online are still available for $1-20 per class.
If you use a Business Membership at the studio, please fill out this form so that we can link the Business Membership to your MindBody online account and invoice the business for your classes.
At the end of the day, we want you to know that we see you. We feel you. We are grateful for you. We will get through this together. Thank you for being there. Let's do some yoga. The world needs it right now.
Caitlin + Britt
Hey Sangha Fam!
Its officially been a week since we made the hard decision to close the Sangha Studio doors. We have decided to continue with our closure for the foreseeable future for the health and safety of our community. Though we won’t physically be with each of you, we aren't going anywhere.
We have loved connecting with each of you online and can’t wait to kick it up a notch in the upcoming weeks. During this time when everything seems up in the air and unknown, we're hoping to bring you some sense of normalcy, routine and structure with our offerings. We won’t keep you waiting. Here is our plan moving forward:
Starting THIS Sunday we will be offering a handful of daily online zoom classes. Yes, you heard that right - classes with your very own Sangha teachers coming straight to your home. Since we can't invite you into our studio home, we hope you’ll invite us into yours! All classes are still donation-based, pay what you can! We’re adding more digital pricing options so everyone can join. See more on that below.
Feeling nervous about going digital? Don’t worry - we have some tutorial videos for you right here. We got your back, and we are in this together. It will be just like signing up for a normal class via Mindbody. You’ll create your Mindbody account, log in, and then register for the class you want to attend. Within minutes, you should get an email with a link for the zoom class. When the time comes, you’ll click the link and it will pop you right into our virtual class. Easy peasy. To make sure you’re set up for success, you might wanna take a moment to create a zoom account via their website or by downloading the app.
So what else do we have going on?
We’re filming a selection of accessible classes this weekend that will be up on our YouTube channel ASAP. Big thank you to our teachers for teaching and to our long time member, Kaylee for providing such a professional shooting experience for us!
And last but not least...We've also got a SWEET 21-day Instagram challenge starting MONDAY.
We’ve got a huge number of amazing teachers who are gearing up to start every morning with you for the next 21 days. Login to Instagram each morning at 7am for 7-minutes of community yoga. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more details soon and sign up for our Challenge newsletter here.
So we ask, who's ready for some positive fun-loving yoga? We're going to get through this together (with some space between us of course). One day at a time, folks.
We love ya and miss ya.
First, thank you to all of you for stepping up as a community and helping us get through this together. Your notes of encouragement are so appreciated! Keep them coming!
Second, we aren't going anywhere! We are in this together as so many of you have shown us these past few days. Here is what we have planned for you this week:
✨ Each day this week join us for a live class on Instagram!
✨ Keep your eye on our Youtube Channel because we will be releasing one new class per day!
✨ Click here to receive a daily email from us this week with a direct link to the YouTube class as well as a meditation or breathe work practice that we will be sending you as well.
✨ Below we've included some new membership options to make sure everyone can still join us for classes online.
In the past week we have taken precautionary measures per the CDC in regards to the COVID-19 outbreak. In light of the recent arrival of COVID-19 in Vermont, the World Health Organization declaring this a pandemic, as well as the closing of all local colleges — we have made the decision to close Sangha Studio effective immediately.
Our yoga practice teaches us to pause, take a breath, and listen to our bodies. As community leaders, Caitlin and Britt feel it’s important at this time to pause, take a breath, and listen to our community.
For now, we will remain closed through next week. During that time, Caitlin and Britt plan to reach out to other community leaders who they look up to and with whom they work closely with to determine next best steps. We will then re-evaluate whether to remain closed or to reopen.
This is not a decision that we are taking lightly. Honestly, at this moment it’s hard to know what the best step is. What we do know is that while there is solid information coming from credible medical sources, there is also fear-based information coming from other angles. As always, we want all of our decisions to be guided by our belief in community, inclusivity and access. When we think about who we serve and the number of people we serve, taking away access to the studio space doesn’t support those things on the surface.
But, if we look deeper, Caitlin and Britt believe that we are making a greater, positive impact on our community by keeping all of us healthier. Last month alone, we had over 5,000 visits between our three studio locations. It is our responsibility to be aware of our impact within the community, and do our part to minimize the spread of the virus however we can. Right now, social distancing is the suggested best course of action from the World Health Organization and the CDC. We must do our part to flatten the curve.
Effective immediately, all drop-in classes, workshops, series, and Community Yoga Programs are canceled at Sangha Studio. In the interim, we will work to make daily online yoga classes and guided meditations available to you. We have fully committed to paying teachers and staff during this closure, and they have been notified of our decision.
The heart of our mission is to serve our community through the shared power of yoga. The below factors played a large role in our decision making process, and helped us choose an option that felt like it honored that mission.
Finally, Sangha is a family. Our commitment to providing yoga to as many people as possible remains unchanged. We truly believe that our practice has power. As a community, we thank you for supporting us during this time. Please take care of yourselves and let’s work together to take care of those most at risk in our community.
We will keep you updated as we have more information. You can always reach Caitlin or Britt at:
