LoveYourBrain Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for people affected by brain injury and raise awareness about the importance of brain health. LoveYourBrain offers LYB friendly yoga classes for people living with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their caregivers.

Four times per year Sangha Studio offers a 6-week long introduction to yoga from a LYB perspective. Together we learn meditation techniques, participate in gentle adaptive yoga and connect with others in the local TBI community.

How do I get involved?

Participants sign up online with LYB. Once you have completed the 6-week course students are eligible for $5 LYB friendly classes at all participating studios.

The LoveYourBrain Yoga Program is now available in multiple locations in Vermont, including Burlington, Montpelier and Manchester!

The series is FREE for people who have experienced a TBI (including concussion) and their caregivers.

LoveYourBrain asks that everyone commits to attending all 6 classes, and registers on the LoveYourBrain website in advance (we want to ensure a manageable class size, so each person receives adequate attention).  Registration can be completed here:

Each class is 90 minutes, based on the following structure:
10 min Centering & breathing exercise
45 min Gentle Yoga
15 min Guided Meditation
20 min Facilitated Discussion

What does LYB friendly mean?

A LYB friendly class is a gentle yoga class tailored to meet the needs of those living with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). All LYB friendly classes are taught by yoga teachers who have completed the LoveYourBrain Teacher Training.

What can I expect in a LYB friendly yoga class? 

  • Gentle movements (yoga poses) that combine stretching and strengthening and promote inner awareness
  • Meditation and breathing exercises that help calm and focus the mind
  • Verbal and (possibly) physical adjustments from the teacher to support you to move safely
  • Opportunity to learn how to use props, such as blocks, straps, and blankets, to help you modify to what works for your body
  • Practicing alongside other TBI survivors, caretakers, and community members in a positive and supportive environment
