“The Learn, Earn, and Prosper (LEAP) program provides youth, 16-24 years old, who are blind or visually impaired, the opportunity to gain the skills needed to become independent, confident, and productive young adults. The goal of this program is to increase the employable skills of youth in transition which will help lead to meaningful employment.” Each summer Sangha Studio is an internship host site for a “LEAPster” intern to support job skills training in customer service, management skills, and non-profit management.
Last summer, our intern, Pam, is shown in this video helping at check-in, assist Caitlin in daily tasks, and tabling at the summer farmer’s market. Last year Champlain College donated multiple laptops to Sangha Studio which made the LEAP program an extra success for us. We were able to dedicate a computer to Pam where she could change the settings on the screen so that it worked for her to be able to send emails, make posters, and other tasks.
In the last year, Sangha Studio has grown so much that we hope to have 2 interns for the 2017 summer session!
