Steph began unwillingly practicing yoga in 2009 as a champion boxer and martial artist. She was initially wary of all the chanting and thought it was strange that people took naps at the end of class. However, not only was yoga a great supplement to her athletic training, but she soon found that a regular practice helped with her anxiety. Yoga taught her how to breathe and be in the moment for the first time in her life and she hasn’t looked back since. Steph completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at Laughing River Yoga in 2016 and has also taken trauma sensitive training with the Yoga Veteran’s Project.
Steph draws on her unconventional background to create yoga classes that are challenging yet accessible. She sincerely believes in meeting each student where they are, while keeping a strong focus on alignment, mindfulness, and breath work. She uses creative asanas and skillful sequencing to create her classes, which often include core stabilization, twists, and balance poses. Her goal is to strengthen and prevent injuries to the body while promoting peace and clarity in the mind.
